Landed (Cadestral Maps) Storey G2 2017
Research project
I worked alongside artists John Angus and Layla Curtis on this research project looking into producing artists' cadestral maps (maps of land ownership) showing current and historical land ownership of a rural area in north Lancashire.
We investigated and explored the sources and methods required to produce cadestral maps by gathering information from the Land Registry, various archives, conversations with local people, plus walking and cycling through the chosen area.
The project was funded by Arts Council England and the Landscape Research Group.
Above: digital map showing the plots of land we obtained information of land ownership.
The area in Lancashire we looked at stretches from the coast at Cockersand Abbey across to the moorlands at the Trough of Bowland - roughly 12 miles (19.3km) from west to east.
